EVENT WRITE-UP: BACK TO THE FUTURE

BACK TO THE FUTURE PLOTTING POST The good news of the week is that recruits are making great progress bug-stomping! The bad news is that they haven't quite gotten all of the bugs. Those left, which is a thankfully very small part of the original population, very suddenly stop eating, stop attacking, and vanish from sight. All is quiet in Oska. That is, of course, until September 1st. The temporal bugs haven't left, they've just secreted themselves away and into cocoons. And what comes out of those cocoons? Something a whole lot meaner. When these guys hatch they're going to be loud, angry, and very aggressive. They're much larger now, about the size of a bull, and they're no longer interested in munching on temporal energy. They will instead attack anything they run into on sight, and can only be dissuaded by death or by the sight of another of the evolved bugs. In the event that two of them meet up, they'll immediately fixate on each other. What follows is presumably some sort of mating dance, which cumulates in the two of them gnawing their way out of this dimension. This produces a rift scar that leaves everything in the area a little temporally weird (more of those ghosts from part 1, but with a lot less flickering), until the area heals over in a day or two. There's one more effect the bugs have: their bites also cause temporal oddities, but localized to the person bitten. It sets in anywhere from 2 to 24 hours after the initial bite, and can last anywhere from two hours to seven days. Characters bitten will find themselves shifting through their own timeline, back into the past already lived, or up into any number of potential futures. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it: characters may remember their time thus far with ALASTAIR clearly, foggily, or not at all, and might not even be anchored to just one alternative point, but drift between a few of them. If anyone has ever wanted to revisit puberty, now would be a great time for it. Things will have returned fully to normal one week later, just in time for the next mission dossier to drop. The next mission will kick off on September 15th. The accompanying event log will go up on September 1st. Please feel free to use this post for planning the next week! Does the bite have to break skin to have an effect, or can it be something like, idk, effects of bug slobber/mouth juice/whatever you'd want to call it. Wondering since if it has to break skin Saitama will have to unfortunately sit out on that bit!

Giovanni will mostly be returning to a much younger, cuter, and more openly terrified version of himself for most of this event, so if anyone wants to get an insight into what he's like under all the malicious snark and why he is the way he is, now is your chance! Alternatively, just wanting to play with a cute kid character is a perfectly valid reason for interacting with him.

If anyone wants it, I may do a very brief future version of him too, just two hours, but he'll be incredibly unstable with very few memories left and just...dangerous to be around. Let me know if anyone would like to play off this version and I can set something up!

For Darc, I'll be doing a recent past version of him, from the beginning of his canon, where he still has his wings and and is still a slave. He'll be less arrogant and abrasive, and more openly emotional and compassionate.

Totally open to shenanigans with both characters so let me know here!

for the first part I'll be going with pre-corporate-chumpery Rizzle, before he bought all the hair gel and became a corporate ladder climbing asshole, so less douche and more nerd... he will basically look like this except with both of his arms, EMBARRASSING. anyway he will be less of a jerk and more open about being a nerdo with Big Dreams, so if you want to get CR with the part of him that doesn't suck this'll probably be the quickest way.

the second part will be [trumpets] Handsome Rhys, the future where the sociopathic AI in his brain is piloting this ship. will mercilessly hit on and/or threaten you, possibly at the same time. I'll never have the balls to do a Jack plot ever again so NOW IS THE TIME IF YOU WANT IT...

anyway I am very much open to anything, I may also have normal Rhys time (the worst Rhys out of all these Rhyses am I right) depending on how things work out so! we got all kinds of options here.

Koltira will be about 25 years younger, which means almost nothing for the long life span of an elf--except that he'll be alive. Living Koltira is a significantly different beast than the sour murder machine you're presently saddled with: he's jovial, friendly, kind, and compassionate. He's essentially a big, good-natured elf jock. In the death knight manga, we catch a glimpse of Koltira pre-death. He puts his little brother in a headlock, teases him gently, tries to help him get a date. He gives speeches about valor and goodness in an attempt to sway Thassarian from Arthas's control. He's a Good Guy ... and because he's an elf, his ethereal hotness will no longer have the weird sheen of undeath to unsettle people looking at him. He'll just be blond & gorgeous (and very excited to talk with you).

McCree will also be shedding years, down to 17 from 37. As a teenager, Jesse McCree was part of a notorious biker gang and wanted for a presumably extensive rap sheet, given that he was an infamous sharpshooter (read: murderer) and bound for max security prison at the time of his capture by Overwatch. This version of McCree is a fresh recruit. Still cynical, still insecure, and unfortunately 100x more likely to come on to your character in the cheesiest way.

He'll be easily recognizable: he's had that Stetson and his BAMF belt buckle for twenty years, and he'll be wearin'em both, along with his revolver. No serape, though, and his body armor is Blackwatch--(para)military issue.

IN TERMS OF SPECIFICS: in between valiantly fighting these nasty insects, young McCree will investigate the barn so that he can (for the first time in his alleged cowboy life) interact with a horse. He will be bad at this. He'll also likely be trying to fill up on booze in the kitchens (illegal, and therefore desired).

Koltira, meanwhile, will be just smiling at everybody and diving in gallantly to help with bugs and kiss the palm of your hand etc. He was a warrior in life, so he's still a good tank.

For your enjoyment, I offer a pubescent Achilles. At this point in his life he is living half wild with his future boyfriend on a mountainside, under the care and tutelage of a centaur. He'll likely be a little more standoffish and abrasive than his older counterpart, and more noticeably self-centered because all his life he's heard that he's been destined for greatness and etc.

Ramir is going forwards in time! But probably not for long, I'll mostly be throwing lil Ramir at people and saying big Ramir wore off real fast. BUT WHILE SHE'S AROUND, she's this lady, who is ~35, runs a crime group as well as large chunks of her city, got even stronger, and is way more calm and reasonable. On the surface, anyway. And Ramir became an actual first name, she took back her family name of Faraldo! Way to make things make sense, big Ramir. Lemme know if you want that flavor, otherwise I'll probably be hitting people up with the standard issue Ramir outside her top level. :]

Knock Out is a few millennia old and fuck that. He's not changing (hard to bite a robot) and will be bewildered to discover that so little time makes such a big difference in humans, what the fuck is wrong with that species.

Twisted Fate will be reverted to his past self from a little over 10 years ago. Which means he's still a pirate, does not even go by Twisted Fate yet, and is a little less of a jerk and more playful. For a keen eye, he is still recognizable, as his eyes still glow and he definitely still is using magic to bend playing cards to his will.

Hanzo Shimada will be reverted by about twenty years, down to 18 years old. He'll be a recent graduate of high school and just starting to truly face what his (supposed) destiny is in the family business (eyyy, organized crime). Also less of a jerk, but wary about how to present himself to others, so he'll come off as a flipflop of being exceedingly confident and exceedingly shy/wary.

Keats, magical jerk journalist extraordinaire, won't QUITE be going back in time. You see, Keats is a magical creation of a young boy by the name of Herve! Herve unconsciously created Keats to be an older version of himself who could do what he could not by protecting the people he loved, and Keats has some of Herve's memories as a result. So guess what - Herve is going to show his face around Oska for the first time!

Herve is the complete opposite of Keats, however - where Keats is cynical and sarcastic, Herve is sweet, kind, selfless, and wants nothing more than to help the people around him. He wants to be a writer like his dad, but unfortunately, he has a fatal heart condition, and is therefore just trying to enjoy life as best as he can in the one year of life he has left. Herve is pretty much "TRAGEDY: CHILD FLAVOR" and I intend to break as many hearts as I can. (Herve's hopefully...not included...)

Genji (Shimada) will revert back to his high school years, too. Oh, he is much more of a jerk -- free-spirited and just wants to do whatever that seems the most fun. Sure he has some skills and always has been pretty proficient at the whole ninja thing, but eh... learning how to be assassin isn't as fun as being the family's black sheep and social butterfly. Am I right, everyone?

Keith is going to be a few years cartoon seasons older and currently involved in what I think of as a "temporary betrayal arc." Essentially, he is going to be a Galra (the purple antagonist furry aliens) that was placed on Earth undercover to bring together all the Voltron lions without realizing it so that Zarkon (the Galra's evil emperor leader) could get the lions under his control. He's a sleeper agent of sorts, albeit one that was raised on Earth and really does care about his team.

In a fit of stupidity and Keithness, he's going to go to the Galra and claim he's loyal to them, giving them his lion in the process (though he'll be allowed to keep it, as Zarkon in this possible AU future would recognize his fighting prowess and would allow him to remain as the red paladin). In truth, Keith is going to try to take out the empire from within, only he's going to act like he's super betraying his pals and being a jerk about it all.

The end of the arc wouldn't have played out entirely, so Keith would still be putting on that show. Badly. Because Keith + acting + ... acting ...

I'm intending to have him remember this afterward! I don't know if the show is going to do Galra!Keith, but it seems ripe for playing out conflict anyway, since Keith is pretty adamant about stopping them as quickly as possible.

The moral questionableness of all of this makes me for sure want Galra!Keith and Dark!Rey threads but that's the max of my ability to commit to plans rn.

Evan is going to be aged up for this event, but you won't be able to tell except for the shit-eating grin he'll have on.

Because of what he is, he lives lives at apparent human pace, but when he dies he comes back. He'll be appearing at the beginning of his third life, looking maaaybe two or three years older than he looks now, but with a whole lot more life experience under his belt. Less nervous, less skittish, less awkward and he keeps a lid on his nerdery better, but also less sincere and honestly a lot more guarded, when it comes down to brass tacks. He'll also have embraced his snarky side, and will be totes down for uncling the shit out of any youngsters her runs into among his cohorts here. He will be having a blast going around seeing people he hasn't seen in almost 200 years, getting his serious nostalgia on, and probably telling people things that young Evan would rather he not admit to.

Fire boss --> Fire nuncle, if he's able to hang up his suit and tie for five minutes, gosh! Laedo will be impressed by the way, not that he was not impressed by most new and unique things as child, by Evan's abilities. Fire's one thing that even the riyalans don't have especial control over.

since lance is still new, he will remain unaffected (and not get injured, for once!) so he'll still be your trashy teen trying to make sense of all this. if you need a straight man for your shenanigans, he is here for ya!

olivia, on the other hand, will be glitching to the future. specifically, her canon's "bad end" timeline, where a neighboring kingdom has succeeded in resurrecting the fell dragon, grima, therefore bringing about the risen (i.e. zombies) and generally wreaking havoc on all those who oppose grima's rule. ACTUAL TIMEFRAMES ARE NEBULOUS in canon, so i will be placing olivia ten years in her future, making her around 32. also, she is the queen of ylisse (because i can), with a young son (around 8 years old) named inigo. she'll likely be taken from the moment right before she dies trying to protect him. this olivia will not only be older, she will be far more skilled in fighting (in canon game terms, she'd either be an assassin or swordmaster... i haven't fully decided yet weeps). she will also be less nervous, less insecure, and far more jaded and cynical due to years of warfare, and losing her friends and family. 8)b also, given her 'canon point' she might imprint on a lot of the youngins running around, so there is that too.

Valeria is already a baby, and since I haven't had a chance to intro yet, I was considering having her meet people as her adult self so that they can be confused and assume she's been de-aged when she goes back to normal after the effects wear off. (Her past is 1000% confusing and she would actually be older than she is if she were de-aged because do not even ask. Or do, but I'm not putting it in the top comment.)

Adult Val is a much better person than Li'l Val and will be completely chill about temporal weirdness. As will Li'l Val, actually, but in a much more condescending way.

PAPYRUS will be from the King Papyrus ending of Undertale. Summary there: Everyone who held any form of political importance is dead, and so somehow, Papyrus winds up the King of the Underground. Which is slowly dying, and he has no idea what he's doing, and he's very miserable. BECAUSE HE WASN'T MISERABLE ENOUGH ALREADY, RIGHT?? At least now he'll know things are not As Bad As They Could Be.

ZENYATTA - I'm still a little on the fence for what to do here.
Option A: Zenyatta from during his time in the Shambali. So, missing some world experience, very faithful to his teachings, working on finding his own inner peace, but mostly the same personality-wise, just a little younger.
Option B: Zenyatta BEFORE going to the Shambali. So, technically not even "Zenyatta" yet, but some serial number he would go by. This would be more headcanon/up-in-the-air kinda zone, but he'd be less chill/less knowledgeable about the world in general.

NOT SURE WHICH ONE I'LL GO WITH, if anyone has a preference towards one vs. the other, let me know, or maybe i'll do both if there's a call for it!!

Sieglinde will be zapping between early childhood when she had just had her feet bound and assumed the mantle of "Green Witch" in her village, and her early twenties. (Thanks for the PB, Witch Hunter.)

As a child, she'll be both scared and curious and also completely in shock and awe of everything she sees here in "the Outside World". She'll also need carrying!

As a young adult, she'll come from a "stayed with ALASTAIR" timeline, (since God only knows with her canon tbh), so she'll be a pretty fly science-witch, personality mostly the same if not slightly more mature and experienced. She will flirt with you if you seem to have good genetics, beware.

natasha will be flashing back to her days as a precious brainwashed ballerina assassin so don't let the adorable 16-year-old doe eyes fool you because she can (and will) kill a man for information.

Okay okay I've been really trying to figure out what to do, beyond just saying 'why not' and rolling with both.

There's the past route which basically involves Widowmaker before she was turned into a living weapon, basically not blue and not an asshole. Will probably spent most of her time around wondering where her husband is.

OR. There's the future variation where the conditioning has worn off. She'll be horrified at what she's done and generally fairly...unstable? Her plethora of issues will just be even worse. A lot of secrets will get out in both variations, but in the future one she'll be rather apologetic about it.

Kylo Ren will be going in reverse and returning to his light side roots as Ben Solo. Essentially, Snoke's attempted contact would have been successfully negated with Luke's help after Ben decided to talk about his problems instead of trying to deal with them the Solo way (in private).

Dark Rey will eventually turn him back to the dark when she reminds him that everyone was scared of him and that nobody actually gives a shit about what he has to say. Yay! But in the mean time, expect a somewhat morose, lonely, and melancholy jedi doing his best to be a good person.

Chihiro's new enough that I half want to see how many friends she can make with people who are temporally displaced just to have most all of them AGE UP ON HER once things turn normal again. Making friends is more complicated than she believed...!

I've considered trying to AU her up to college years pursuing an environmental engineering degree, but she really is new enough that it seems like it'd possibly be more fun for her to go making friends with everyone and finding out she's bonded with all the wrong age groups to her own consternation. Everyone, we're still friends!

... even if you're all even older now... (so I'll likely hit up people in comments around here to see if anyone's interested, but I wanted to toss this out here in case anyone does want to get CR going/continued during this event!)

He's going to go back 3 years to before he achieved OPness and lost all his hair at the age of 22. Look at that hair, isn't it any wonder he gets angry about it. He'll be keeping current memories though.

At this age he's strong, like maybe an average american comic book super hero who's main power ISN'T super strength, but he's probably like 5% the power level he is now and can be hurt. This doesn't really mean much to most characters here, since his strength isn't really known yet, but he will be both excited about having his hair back and maybe asking for some sparring so he can feel that thrill of being beatable again. Feel free to think he's weird for wanting to get potentially beaten up.

He'll be pretty much the same otherwise. He's always been a simple man.

GWEN will remain as she is and she will be available for babysitting as well as taking photos and videos for potential pranking/blackmail use later. The truly recless will likely be chased around by Spider-Woman in an attempt to keep them from breaking their necks. Too many versions of her have done just that, 0/10 do not recommend.

By which I mean I'm very much taking the opportunity to bring back Robin the Boy Wonder, aka Jason when he was fifteen or so—some time before he got himself crowbarred and came back from the dead. If you're somehow unfamiliar with Batman, he's a teenaged sidekick to a Bat-themed vigilante—(He is vengeance, he is the night, etc etc.)—the second kid to wear the cape, and the first to die in the line of duty. (He got better. Sort of.) He's still got some squirrely street kid in him, but he's less shitty this way, I promise.

I have very few concrete plans yet besides winging it hard, but I'll bounce around and see what you guys have planned. He'll be just as prone to inherent nosiness about ALASTAIR's deal but a little more prone to being friendly and helpful so he'll be all over the place—please if you're interested in poking around with an intrepid teenaged bird boy, hit me up! Or if you'd prefer normal lazarus'd flavor instead, I'm good playing the timeline straight man, too. I'm gonna try to take advantage of the chance to branch out a lot during this one, hopefully. >:c!

Laedo plot-tracking

Laedo will be shifting back to a six year-old (equivalent; in actual years he's about twenty, lol) dragonet for a few days, which puts him at about large dog sized, unable to shift to a human form, and unable to use much in the way of magic except create light orbs, scatter rainbows, and warble a fabulous contralto.

I've got a few threads planned, but if I missed yours or you want to do a thread, let's figure something out!

with Evan: Laedo learns shifting again for the first time with older Evan
with Serene: First encounter between when Laedo is bitten and shifts to a youngster, shenanigans ensue when younger Laedo basks in Serene's company ;u;
