BACK TO THE FUTURE PLOTTING POST

The good news of the week is that recruits are making great progress bug-stomping! The bad news is that they haven't quite gotten all of the bugs. Those left, which is a thankfully very small part of the original population, very suddenly stop eating, stop attacking, and vanish from sight. All is quiet in Oska.

That is, of course, until September 1st. The temporal bugs haven't left, they've just secreted themselves away and into cocoons. And what comes out of those cocoons? Something a whole lot meaner.

When these guys hatch they're going to be loud, angry, and very aggressive. They're much larger now, about the size of a bull, and they're no longer interested in munching on temporal energy. They will instead attack anything they run into on sight, and can only be dissuaded by death or by the sight of another of the evolved bugs. In the event that two of them meet up, they'll immediately fixate on each other. What follows is presumably some sort of mating dance, which cumulates in the two of them gnawing their way out of this dimension. This produces a rift scar that leaves everything in the area a little temporally weird (more of those ghosts from part 1, but with a lot less flickering), until the area heals over in a day or two.

There's one more effect the bugs have: their bites also cause temporal oddities, but localized to the person bitten. It sets in anywhere from 2 to 24 hours after the initial bite, and can last anywhere from two hours to seven days. Characters bitten will find themselves shifting through their own timeline, back into the past already lived, or up into any number of potential futures. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it: characters may remember their time thus far with ALASTAIR clearly, foggily, or not at all, and might not even be anchored to just one alternative point, but drift between a few of them. If anyone has ever wanted to revisit puberty, now would be a great time for it.

Things will have returned fully to normal one week later, just in time for the next mission dossier to drop. The next mission will kick off on September 15th.

Giovanni will mostly be returning to a much younger, cuter, and more openly terrified version of himself for most of this event, so if anyone wants to get an insight into what he's like under all the malicious snark and why he is the way he is, now is your chance! Alternatively, just wanting to play with a cute kid character is a perfectly valid reason for interacting with him.

If anyone wants it, I may do a very brief future version of him too, just two hours, but he'll be incredibly unstable with very few memories left and just...dangerous to be around. Let me know if anyone would like to play off this version and I can set something up!

For Darc, I'll be doing a recent past version of him, from the beginning of his canon, where he still has his wings and and is still a slave. He'll be less arrogant and abrasive, and more openly emotional and compassionate.

Totally open to shenanigans with both characters so let me know here!

I still would be down for throwing old Evan at young Gio, although it would be interesting to throw old Evan at the really unstable version of Gio too. Old Evan can hold his own a lot better, and is like, self-destructively curious.

I DON'T MIND! Even both would be okay if you had time for it, though I'm still in two minds about future!Gio because he'll be super hard to play because he's...very nearly mindless SOBS. It could still be interesting, though, potentially.

hmmmm! Let's stick with one thread and see how we're both feeling about tag loads a day or two in. I'm intrigued by the idea of two but overload is a thing. :u Young Gio and old Evan then?

Yeah overload sure is a thing ;; that makes sense! And kid!Gio is a bit easier to play anyway, ahaha. So let's go with one and see how things wind up.

I'd be up for throwing Kaneki at either version, if you have a preference! Notably though, as Haise he won't remember what occurred during this event, but he might have some intuitive behavior based on whatever came of the interaction.

I don't particularly have a preference, is there an option that seems more fun to you? Kid!Gio will obviously be easier to get along with as future!Gio will be near mindless and violent, but I'm up for either one!

Let's see... Younger might be easier with Kaneki, since he'd be inclined to look after a kid. Or try to, at least. He'll be pretty disoriented around here but I think that might be the easier of the two since he wouldn't recognize Gio.

Let's go with that, then! Kid!Gio should be fun anyway, he's such a little scaredycat.

That'll play well with Kaneki's protective inclinations. Although I've played off a few DOGS characters, this has been my first game getting to play off of Giovanni, so I'm looking forward to seeing his younger self.

Alas, there are not many Giovannis around, and he needs more appreciation! But yes, hopefully it should be fun, younger Gio gives some fairly good insight into what older Gio is really about and why he is the way he is, so there's that!

I wouldn't mind having Meallan run into past!Darc? Does the talk much about the slave part?

I'd be cool with that! And it depends on what you want out of the thread! He wouldn't try to hide it, he's fairly open about it.

It'd be interesting since slavery is a huge hot button topic for elves in Thedas so Meallan would probably be all BUT FREEDOM IS GOOD LETS TALK ABOUT FREEDOM BE FREEEE and it might be interesting and terrible

THAT SOUNDS GOOD TO ME because past!Darc was stupidly loyal for no good reason to his owner and like BUT SHE RAISED ME even though she just beats him all the time and makes him wear a cursed collar and do all the work LMAO. He does learn later, but past him is very soft so it should make for an interesting conversation!

I was planning to have him remember, but it also depends on what you'd prefer! He can always conveniently forget some things and just remember others if you'd rather he didn't remember for some reason!

I'd be happy with him remembering everything! She'll be waiting to see if he'll grow closer to her or flee her in mortification afterwards, but for now that boy needs a nice female adult figure in his life

haha, he'll probably be pretty avoidant immediately after but IT COULD make him be a bit more open/more attached later one. There'll definitely be some mortification though haha he's pretty ashamed of his younger self.

YESSSS that'd be super cute. and would make a change from their slightly prickly CR so far. Small terrified bro could definitely use a brave angry big bro to look out for him!
