Hey guys! With Ramir's recent post in mind, I figured I'd throw something together for characters looking to be taught or teach fighty stuff. So here's an OOC planning thing for it! You don't have to have tagged the post to participate, you can assume your character found out there's lessons going on through word of mouth, or however else you like. And on a similar note, Ramir would be happy to play matchmaker and pair teachers with students if you're not sure how the connection might kick off, or you can also handwave that having taken place elsewise. Whatever works!

If you play a teacher, go ahead and use this form and post it in the teacher thread:

Is your character going to be a hardass teacher, would they take some doing to be convinced to teach their skills? Would they demand payment from students? Any teachable non-combat skills to throw into the bargain? Any kind of personality they get along with really well, or clash with? Is there a maximum number of students you want them to take on? Anything you can think of that prospective student-players should know.

I'm figuring teachers could have multiple students and students could have multiple teachers, just to spread the CR all around. You're also welcome to either plan out threads here, or just talk out and handwave how the lessons would go.

That's what I like to refer to as his bonus appendage - a predatory organ, in his world. Ghouls come in four main flavors, rather like pokémon, and these types are strong against some and weak against others with their own specialties.

In Haise's case, he's a rinkaku (literal translation: shining scales if I recall), meaning a serpentine sort of limb can appear from his lower back. Shape and size can be changed at will in his case, but it also means his kagune's more brittle in exchange for being malleable. Some examples, as well as a decent view of where it emerges from, here!

I was going to say that sounds almost like a tail, but it is certainly not reminiscent of one! We'll have to either thread it out some time or else handwave if it's a bit too cumbersome to get in writing, because that sounds really cool. Laedo will ??? at what, exactly, Haise is, once he's revealed that!

I'm not sure I can even argue against this, haha. Rinkaku have good striking power, they can just also get knocked around a fair bit.

It may be that Haise keeps it under wraps until he's actually let Laedo know what he is, since he can make the point that he's a predator and if he gets unstable it's best to incapacitate him, but! There's always the chance he ends up in a fight he can't otherwise win and has to use it.

Or if it's the only way to protect someone, he'd whip it out then too.

oooh, that will be a good thread, too. Any ideas on how Haise will be outing himself in particular yet? Laedo will be very 8I about it. Caetrans (his sworn enemies) can take human form too, and they've got rumours of cannibalism and worse. I think he'll be pretty torn over the comparison. :c Haise seems like such a nice guy, after all.

I think after a while they'd be liable to have a deeper rapport, especially since they're getting their spar on. That or if Haise is reminded that he's got some issues with stability if he's pushed a little too far in a combat situation. Or if his supplies ever run short during a mission...yeah. Definite possibilities.

Because the thing is, he puts others before himself. He'd rather get taken down than do something regrettable.

If you want to wrap up our current thread, I'm down to move on to future ones--or we can continue threading and handwave some of this CR until we hit a juicy point. >:U I'm so game for all of this but I wish I had more time to consistently tag over the work week. I really like what we have going so far.

We could wrap up the current one and then have something that takes place later, maybe say they've taken up sparring on a regular basis if Laedo would be inclined? Haise is basically always down for training. And hey, work weeks are tough. I'll backtag forever anyhow.
