Hello, Futurologists! We've had a lot of interest in purple bounties and player plots lately, which is very exciting! But we have seen some confusion about what constitutes a purple bounty or a player plot, so we have decided to break it down for clarification purposes:
PURPLE BOUNTIES. Listed on the Bounty Board, purple bounties are custom bounties that players may write up for their own character to complete. For those of you who were around during S1, purple bounties are intended to replace the AC Rewards mechanic; purple bounties are a way to have your character earn a custom item or skill that they could not find or purchase through normal means.
Purple bounties can be plot-related or not, but they are character-specific, meaning that they are for only your character; other players who help you complete a purple bounty do not get the reward you have set for yourself. For an example of what a purple bounty should look like, we have asked Anna if we could use Inuyasha's purple bounty from Hanabira as an example: you can view it here!
PLAYER PLOTS. These should be optional full or mini-plots that the mods will include on the calendar and integrate into event logs whenever possible. We expect player plots to be potentially open to the entire game, and not something that would only affect a small group or only your character's CR. We have updated the language on the Suggestions Post to make this a little more clear!
The reason for this distinction is that player plots receive special attention from mods in meta information and our attention, and we want to give as many people as possible a chance to be involved. To view past player plots to get a better idea of what we are looking for, you can check the tag on the OOC comm.
If you have any questions about these clarifications, please ask them below!
So there's no way for two players/characters to come up with and complete a purple bounty together to both earn a reward? It always has to be for only one of the characters? (I ask because I'm concerned this makes them more difficult to brainstorm/complete.)
Hi, Tifa! That is correct; purple bounties are meant to be a way for a character to earn a specific reward that is otherwise not offered through regular bounty rewards or the general items found on mission. As we said above, this is meant as a replacement for S1's AC reward system. Instead of submitting coins, you submit activity (a thread) in order to receive the item, power, etc.
Players can always use a purple bounty thread for AC or just to earn CR with the character whose thread it is, or two characters can each complete their own individual bounties in a single thread. (For example, Bruce's bounty could be to punch a robot for a new computer upgrade, and Clark's bounty could be to punch a robot for a unique title.)
We hope this explains it! Please let us know if you need further clarification.
And follow-up clarification: even though this is a replacement to the AC reward system, there's no way for the rewards to be items from characters' home worlds?
