EVENT WRITE-UP: OCTOBER 17TH.

EVENT POST

What's up, worldhoppers? Before we begin, I've got a few things to cover!

NPC INTERACTION
I'm just one person, and there's quite a few more members of the game than I expected! It's great, but means I will have to tweak things a bit. For now, some NPC interaction will be handwaved instead of threaded out — however, you will still be able to ask your questions and get answers.

There'll be a thread on this post (and all event posts hereafter) where you'll be able to say, for example, "What would my character find out if they eavesdropped in the goblin house of worship?" If your character would have specific questions to ask of someone, you can ask those, too. Hopefully, this should streamline the information gathering process and make it a bit faster for everyone involved.

The game is an entirely one mod endeavor so far, but in the future, I'll most likely be looking for some help, so keep that in mind if the idea of modding interests you at all. And now that I'm done yakking at you all, let's get to the event.

DIVIDED

On October 17th, characters will find themselves... very alone. That is, unless they're in the city square; it's likely several people will pass them by, heading there to watch as the fight unfolds or participate in it. No one's quite sure how it started, or who started it — every story is conflicting. They do know one thing, though: it's out of control.

What started as a fight between two has grown into an all out brawl, and it's starting to get bloody. Anyone who comes near will undoubtedly be pulled in. At that point, you have only a few options: fight for the goblins, fight for the humans, or run like hell. You might be able to help patch up injured people if you're far away enough from the action.

When they arrive on the scene, all humans that did not already ally themselves with the goblins by October 7th will be treated as enemies. That means they'll be attacked if they appear to be in the fight. Should they defend themselves, they will be seen as allying themselves with the humans. The opposite rings true as well: those who fight for the goblins will be cementing their alliance. This is good and bad. Whichever side you fight for will become more forthcoming and friendly, while the other side will become much more antagonistic.

Those who fight for the goblins will no longer be welcome at the Voclain or Abel Inn; if they're staying there, they will return to find their things out on the street. Many human vendors will refuse to sell to them, and word will spread fast that they can't be trusted. Those who fight for the goblins won't be welcome at the Krozm Boarding House or the outskirts — should they come near, they will be regarded as a threat and treated as such.

One last thing. As the fight reaches its peak, law enforcement will be stepping in. They will attempt to jail anyone involved in the fight. They're arresting suspiciously less on the humans' side rather than the goblins', but they're still arresting humans to keep up appearances. They will be jailed for 24 hours if caught, but can attempt to escape or beg for bail. It seems like an unfortunate situation, but it's actually a great opportunity to gather information.

Just hope that you chose the right side, because there's no going back now.

Please feel free to use this as a plotting post.

all humans that did not already ally themselves with the goblins by October 7th will be treated as enemies.

Obligatory "what about non-humans" question! Will their default be goblins?

How would the goblins react to Raidou's demons? Most of them are very obviously nonhuman and supernatural in origin.

For that matter, how badly would humans react to them, if they can see them?

Great timing, haha. Some things I've been glossing over and was considering asking anyway:

After the arrival to Odette, are the crew members physically on their own? Are they with or able to contact any of their ALASTAIR superiors at any point, or anyone who would be able to answer questions about ALASTAIR itself, or are they left only with the orders? Were they able to talk to anyone in this position in Oska? If so, and they asked about the nature of ALASTAIR, what would they have been told? If crew members purposefully disobey orders, is there a consequence?

I apologize for the wall of questions (oh my god) and for not asking some of it earlier, but details about this have been a bit unclear for me and I want to be sure I'm assuming the correct things. Especially before chaos breaks out and potentially bad decisions are made. ALSO I should probably have put this in questions, not NPC interaction, oops.

Sooo, Ban has this ability--Hunter Fest--it essentially drains power from every living being within 100 ft of himself!

Let's say he uses this in the middle of a big fight... How would NPCs react to both sides being disabled for awhile?

Edit: The effects would be pretty strong--enough to knock most folks unconscious instantly.

this is more about the last event than this one, since I think my comment got lost, but I was hoping to have some interaction w a shopkeeper & upgrade some of Seb's stuff a little bit.

1) would he have been able to upgrade one or both with the money he had? I'm running on the assumption he wouldn't have been able to get SUPER AMAZING STUFF but maybe getting the knife or the lantern a little cleaned up?

2) would he have learned anything from the shopkeeper? I'm sure the conversation would be mostly straightforward, but if the shopkeeper had mentioned the tension lately Seb probably would have pressed it. I'm totally cool w him not learning much of anything, tbh, it just occurred that something might have been said.

tysm!

does Odette have a library? and if so, what sort of information can be found within?

So, suppose Character A wants to break Character B out of jail - what would result from the attempt?

How much trouble is it going to cause if Ahad uses conjured money or other things to bail people out of jail?

Okay, thank you! I may have to get back to you with how much money he's using, because I'm not sure yet.

in the correct place this time

An actual question about this event, specifically gathering info in jail: can the guards be bribed? Are humans and goblins/goblin allies housed in the same sections?

These are slightly more complicated questions, so.

1. If Phoenix were to hypothetically take a plot thread of proving the accused assassin innocent post-mortem, would there be enough evidence existing one way or the other to make a case?

2. If there isn't -- and I hate pulling out abilities I wanted nerfed -- would it be POSSIBLE for Accord to do a little time travel, with the understanding she's not the type to directly interfere with the course of history, and thus would do jack and shit to actually derail the assassination? (Bonus points if she sticks around the whole period of time and suddenly one day has a weapon inventory she didn't have the day before because she's now been around way longer.)

Understandable if the latter ain't a possible thing, though!

I think I'll hold off any specific questions until after the King announces his decree in case I have anything answered there first but one general question I had was about the info given to team by ALASTAIR.

Specifically, how much of chantes mission writeup here is common knowledge the team was given beforehand? (The cults and the battle before the sun set were my particular interest). Basically curious if it was mentioned in briefing like it's written there. Thanks so much!
