What's up, worldhoppers? Before we begin, I've got a few things to cover!

NPC INTERACTION
I'm just one person, and there's quite a few more members of the game than I expected! It's great, but means I will have to tweak things a bit. For now, some NPC interaction will be handwaved instead of threaded out — however, you will still be able to ask your questions and get answers.

There'll be a thread on this post (and all event posts hereafter) where you'll be able to say, for example, "What would my character find out if they eavesdropped in the goblin house of worship?" If your character would have specific questions to ask of someone, you can ask those, too. Hopefully, this should streamline the information gathering process and make it a bit faster for everyone involved.

The game is an entirely one mod endeavor so far, but in the future, I'll most likely be looking for some help, so keep that in mind if the idea of modding interests you at all. And now that I'm done yakking at you all, let's get to the event.

DIVIDED
On October 17th, characters will find themselves... very alone. That is, unless they're in the city square; it's likely several people will pass them by, heading there to watch as the fight unfolds or participate in it. No one's quite sure how it started, or who started it — every story is conflicting. They do know one thing, though: it's out of control.

What started as a fight between two has grown into an all out brawl, and it's starting to get bloody. Anyone who comes near will undoubtedly be pulled in. At that point, you have only a few options: fight for the goblins, fight for the humans, or run like hell. You might be able to help patch up injured people if you're far away enough from the action.

When they arrive on the scene, all humans that did not already ally themselves with the goblins by October 7th will be treated as enemies. That means they'll be attacked if they appear to be in the fight. Should they defend themselves, they will be seen as allying themselves with the humans. The opposite rings true as well: those who fight for the goblins will be cementing their alliance. This is good and bad. Whichever side you fight for will become more forthcoming and friendly, while the other side will become much more antagonistic.

Those who fight for the goblins will no longer be welcome at the Voclain or Abel Inn; if they're staying there, they will return to find their things out on the street. Many human vendors will refuse to sell to them, and word will spread fast that they can't be trusted. Those who fight for the goblins won't be welcome at the Krozm Boarding House or the outskirts — should they come near, they will be regarded as a threat and treated as such.

One last thing. As the fight reaches its peak, law enforcement will be stepping in. They will attempt to jail anyone involved in the fight. They're arresting suspiciously less on the humans' side rather than the goblins', but they're still arresting humans to keep up appearances. They will be jailed for 24 hours if caught, but can attempt to escape or beg for bail. It seems like an unfortunate situation, but it's actually a great opportunity to gather information.

Just hope that you chose the right side, because there's no going back now.

Dean had about zero plans to ally himself with either side before he'd managed to get the story for each side (though he is always biased towards humans, always); however! he will definitely interfere in the fight, most unwittingly allying himself with the humans. he's a very aggressive fighter, especially as things get ugly and dirty, and he will end up in jail because of it. and because he knows that jails are extremely useful places to get info. he's used to being behind bars anyway, nbd.

that said, i am super open to non-hostile interaction with goblin sympathizers, in the interest of perhaps trying to work in the shadows to figure out/eventually mend relations kind of thing.

Though, Julius is more than likely to end up there himself as well. They could cooperate and mend relationships together if you're ok with that!

I might be able to have Sebastian come get Dean from jail! I sent the mods a question about it, & until I hear back I'm just assuming, BUT would you like Seb to come see/save Dean after a while?

or he could bounce the info he gets off Seb if he'd like, instead =w=

ooh, yes i would love for Dean and Seb to partner it up at some point — they have common interests and feel kind of similar that way — bouncing info off of each other would be the best tbh :) like, Dean will want to hang in jail for a while see what he can glean, and then relay his info to Seb so that he can work with it outside of prison or something? investigation buddies!

OKAY SO UPDATE Seb's going to be on the goblin side & thrown in jail so maybe they can have the same jailcell??? & work together on trying to figure it out too? or different jailcells for MAXIMUM INFO

gah, sorry for the edit - seb works better w a partner to foil him a little & while they're really alike at least they can get INTENSE together & work towards figuring it out ;w; that sounds super awesome to me

that's even better, yes! secret collaboration, working in the shadows to pool info and eventually figure out a way to take action, intense shop/plot-talking. this all sounds perfect to me! :)

SIGH DEAN WHY DO YOU DO THIS TO YOURSELF HERE if dean wants to work with loki to get some jail info, loki can be of help with his illusion/sketchy b&e abilities before dean gets broken out.

well, it kind of is, but

Dean will want to work with Loki yes — he'll side-eye the illusion stuff but ultimately, if used for Good (like getting him out of jail when the time comes) he'll, you know, give it a pass.

ITS A WHOLE NEW WORLD, WHOLE NEW RULES can't just go ganking people left and right, pal. besides, goblins aren't demons, so that's a major plus ;)

you are more than welcome to throw Ban at Dean! which, if we're honest, will probably come with a side of supernatural racism (what's up with the teeth, bro? and did anyone tell you your eyes were kind of on the red side? that stuff ain't natural).
