EVENT WRITE-UP: BACK TO THE FUTURE

BACK TO THE FUTURE PLOTTING POST The good news of the week is that recruits are making great progress bug-stomping! The bad news is that they haven't quite gotten all of the bugs. Those left, which is a thankfully very small part of the original population, very suddenly stop eating, stop attacking, and vanish from sight. All is quiet in Oska. That is, of course, until September 1st. The temporal bugs haven't left, they've just secreted themselves away and into cocoons. And what comes out of those cocoons? Something a whole lot meaner. When these guys hatch they're going to be loud, angry, and very aggressive. They're much larger now, about the size of a bull, and they're no longer interested in munching on temporal energy. They will instead attack anything they run into on sight, and can only be dissuaded by death or by the sight of another of the evolved bugs. In the event that two of them meet up, they'll immediately fixate on each other. What follows is presumably some sort of mating dance, which cumulates in the two of them gnawing their way out of this dimension. This produces a rift scar that leaves everything in the area a little temporally weird (more of those ghosts from part 1, but with a lot less flickering), until the area heals over in a day or two. There's one more effect the bugs have: their bites also cause temporal oddities, but localized to the person bitten. It sets in anywhere from 2 to 24 hours after the initial bite, and can last anywhere from two hours to seven days. Characters bitten will find themselves shifting through their own timeline, back into the past already lived, or up into any number of potential futures. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it: characters may remember their time thus far with ALASTAIR clearly, foggily, or not at all, and might not even be anchored to just one alternative point, but drift between a few of them. If anyone has ever wanted to revisit puberty, now would be a great time for it. Things will have returned fully to normal one week later, just in time for the next mission dossier to drop. I don't mind! Giovanni looks more human but is probably less so than Darc, really. I'm always up for difficult CR (and Giovanni lends himself to that very well when he's not a child) so whatever you think you'd have more fun playing out! Talking skeletons would probably seem pretty freaky to kid!Giovanni so there's also that. Darc's a little more ready to just accept any weird thing he sees haha.

stiles is going to go around for a time as his usual charming self, trying to Figure Stuff Out or at least.... casually find out as much as he can about his teammates?? oops. and then, because i'm nice like that, he's going to get his share of the timey-wimey, aging up to season 5, and specifically the point where he's had to kill a douche someone in self-defense and his best friend kinda broke up with him over that...

so what's that good for? a) if you want him to talk about The Supernatural, aka werewolves / chimeras / the general horrors of his home life, or b) want to handle a freak-out over the aforementioned two things.

nami, on the other hand, is getting aged down, first to her 10-year-old self, from before her adoptive mother was killed, so she's very headstrong, very cheerful and loves all things maps! her second aged-down version is far less cheerful: from fairly early on in the series, when she was still a member of the arlong pirates (and spent her time between stealing money from pirates in order to pay arlong for the release of her village, and being locked up in the arlong pirates' base as she was forced to draw them maps). her regular self will be around, too, for some select threads.

hurriedly brushes away the eyes of those who care by starting off with oocly, I'm still at work training and will be for two weeks, so AS MUCH MY JAM AS THIS EVENT IS I might be slow for a while... thanks for your understanding..!!

That being said, for those who don't care about spoilers, Sigma's going to be a whopping 67 for this event. Though this is about all that's going to change appearance-wise. That and he busted out the dad-at-a-barbeque polo and khakis. Ages pretty gracefully, huh? (Wrong. Physically, mentally, and emotionally.) For the uninitiated, Sigma can pass his consciousness to alternate versions of himself in different timelines. This includes points along timelines well into the future or past. For the entirety of ZTD, Old Sigma's at the wheel, and so shall he be here.

Partyboy Klim becomes a slightly socially stunted gentleman of sorts, jarringly curt and studious. His jokey/sassy core hasn't gone away, he's not No Fun Allowed McGee by any stretch of the imagination, he's just a lot more sober/somber for the most part. He's also well-versed in programming, artificial intelligence, robotics, genetics, all that cool stuff, as well as a lot more knowledgeable of his powers. He's wicked smart. He's also wicked lonely, in a much different way than he was before.

My plans are pretty wing-it so far since RL is still up in the air, and I'll probably refrain from tagging out too much because spoilers for a new game... But please don't hesitate to come to me I'd love to do shit!! Whether it's being weirded out by politely-worded Sigma or first-time encounters being weirded out when he reverts back to his normal self! I'll try to get a top level up, let's talk science, let's talk weird spacetime, let's talk crazy Saw puzzles... that doesn't come up in polite conversation, does it.
