ANNOUNCEMENTS

Hello, worldhoppers! As our first stint in Oska comes to a close and the Nalawi mission approaches, it's the perfect time for some announcements. We ask that you please read this post carefully, and feel free to ask any questions if anything seems unclear to you!

UPDATED PAGES

The premise page has been transformed into the welcome page, detailing the exact things your character would see and hear upon their acceptance to the game and arrival in Oska. Everything in that page is IC information. Even if you're already in game, please take a second to reacquaint yourself with it, as we've made it more clear. As a reminder, all characters first arrive in Oska, where the situation is explained to them, before they are shipped out to the active mission (if applicable).

We've also updated the FAQ page -- especially the "drop/hiatus" information, which we'll expand on later in this post! When you have the chance, please take a glance at it.

Lastly, we have updated the AC rules. Threads with NPCs will not be able to go towards activity check and your threads must be with two different player characters. These points were detailed in our SOTG post.

SPECIAL DROPS


We will now be allowing a special drop mechanic for characters that have been in game for 6 or more months and are in good activity standing. Our standard drop mechanic is a simple transfer to another ALASTAIR team, but now they will have the option of concluding their involvement with ALASTAIR and being sent back home. ALASTAIR will contact them and give them time to say their goodbyes before they go home. This option is for players who wish to finish up a character arc and get closure.

Other players will still be able to app the character without their game memories. ALASTAIR will ICly be sending characters home based on who they believe is most needed in their home worlds; this mechanic is in place to explain why a character with more seniority might be staying in-game longer than another. If you wish to use the special drop mechanic, you must PM the mods and discuss it with us so we can tie it into the metaplot.

PLAYER PLOTS & YOU


We'd like to remind the players that the plot in Futurology is mainly player-driven. Many of our favorite events so far have been by player suggestion! The mods want to encourage taking initiative and submitting player plots; we love to receive them.

You can submit them through the suggestions page; your entire event doesn't need to be completely planned out, but a general idea is good to help us work with you. If you have any ideas, please don't be shy! If we receive several player plots that cannot happen at the same time, we'll be giving precedence to characters who have not yet run a player plot.

MISCONCEPTIONS


We have noticed some OOC confusion over the game mechanics recently. To clarify: characters are told ICly that they arrived by stumbling through a rift by accident rather than being chosen and taken in some way, and that the NPCs are simply senior members of ALASTAIR, not the ones running it. That said, it's completely normal for characters to be suspicious! Whether they choose to believe that is entirely up to you, and we're 100% fine with characters spreading IC misinformation, but we want to make sure there's no confusion OOCly. It's our bad for not being clear enough, but we hope this helps! As the metaplot marches on, things should become even more clear, so stay tuned.

This is something we've noticed across the game as a whole, and isn't meant to single out anyone in particular. Again, IC misinformation = bueno. OOC misinformation = no bueno. You're all great, and we just want to make sure we've made everything as clear as possible for you guys. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. We don't want anyone to feel confused or unsure, and we're happy to answer any and all questions.
