EVENT FOLLOW-UP: WHAT DO YOU CALL A PROBLEM LIKE MICHEL?
EVENT FOLLOW-UP As of the 30th, Michel has taken over the castle, with Rin, Saber, Aqua, Alice, Sieglinde and Gilgamesh inside. He plans to take the throne for himself, whatever it takes. His brother, Arthur, has come to ALASTAIR with a message: he's become too dangerous to let live. As for characters who disagree that Michel needs to be killed, there's a subthread below to discuss plotting options. All alternative suggestions should also be made ICly on Arthur's network post. |

ASSASSINATION SIGN-UPS.

SUITABILITY: Ban's an exceptionally sneaky and agile superhuman with magic that can rip someone's heart out of their chest from afar--or, up close, in a flash. To boot, he can drain someone of their strength and stamina. Signing him up, since he's the amoral sort who'd do this without hesitation and from the shadows.

SUITABILITY: he is very sneaky, see his title from the enchanted forest, and is good with a bow and arrow, stated to never miss! he wouldn't like it but he would kill to protect people from a crazy unrestrained magical force. he has killed before and could and would do it again in the right circumstances.

SUITABILITY: Riku's come into this with the ability to fight extremely well for his age and cast mostly offensive magic. As he is part of the group that was on its way to meet the king, he would have reason to kill especially if he thought it might endanger the rest of the group inside. At barely five feet, Riku's small enough to hide in most small places and can portal short distances when magic is allowed, enabling him to reach hard-to-reach safe spots. Riku might falter at first but would follow through in killing Michel.
As Michel has shown himself to be a threat to the town/world, Riku would consider it a Keybearer's duty to strike him down to keep everyone safe, and he can do that. It comes down to a matter of duty to something bigger than ALASTAIR--what awaits him back home.

SUITABILITY: Archer is a Servant with hundreds (if not thousands) of years of combat experience. Aside from being proficient with swords and at archery (and possessing a vast arsenal of bladed weapons that can be projected at will) he has been summoned into various eras (in canon) in order to "fix" timelines and eliminate threats to humanity's existence. He has killed many, many times, and given the threat that Michel poses, he would not hesitate to kill him for the sake of the people of Chantes. He would be willing to fight Michel head-to-head or shoot him in the back, whichever is most convenient. He is very magical himself so he is well-equipped for this. Killing the few for the sake of the many is basically what he's done for a long time, and he wouldn't care how he did it as long as it got done.

SUITABILITY: Masamune is skilled with weapons and magic and killed plenty. His magic also doesn't use incantations or require a source (his magic is lightning/electricity, but he doesn't need a current around as he can create one from pulling the air) and can be used offensively and defensively. He is not generally sneaky in his tactics for fighting/killing but could do it.
buuuttt... His skills aren't why he'd offer to do it ICly (he knows there are plenty of people here that are perfectly capable better suited to pulling off an assassination.) It would come from the fact Arthur himself is the one asking for it. That means it isn't merely a decision made by a detached group of people to take a problematic character out; it's a request from a family member that previously risked everything to rescue the same person from execution prior. Since Masamune killed his own younger brother (also the result of a 'no other choice' sentiment), he feels he sort of 'gets it' as far as Arthur goes and, as someone who can at least relate on that level, offering to do it is the only right of him.

SUITABILITY: Kida's about as magical as old socks, so the fact that magic is nerfed inside the castle doesn't really faze her or affect her skill, and said skill has been honed for hundreds of years. She uses a spear and knife, so she'd need to get closer to kill than someone shooting from afar, but she's plenty capable of silent movement and being stealthy, and by now she knows the castle layout well. Sneaking in shouldn't be a problem, if there are even still guards to defend the "king".
From a personal IC standpoint: Sieglinde's in there, so Kida will be doubly motivated to get this over with fast. Michel is someone she has no friendly feelings for to begin with, having spent two miserable weeks in jail with him and knowing him for a hate-filled windbag.
In terms of capacity for the task at hand, the first thing we learn about Kida's personality is that her usual response to visitors is murder, and she's killed in-game before. Suffice to say, she's more than prepared to put the needs of the many over the life of one, especially if Michel poses a threat to the entire city.
ALTERNATIVE OPTIONS.

The Accords don't give a shit.no subject
He'd like to either convince Michel to join ALASTAIR (without ALASTAIR's approval maybe WHOOPS) and join the multiversal masses. If that doesn't work, possibly a "happy accident" to kick him through some multiversal fabric maybe and find himself in ALASTAIR's arms maybe.
Maybe.
i CAN PITCH IT

Possibly with the suggestion that they kill the king instead.

Maybe Arthur can rule. He seems reasonable.

well first off why don't we just stick him with the demons, you know
But generally she'd support finding a method of turning his magic back on him, otherwise working from within his own powers and tactics to imprison him or weaken him in some way, or just plain knocking him out so that he can be held accountable and—she would never admit it openly, but—maybe helped. You never know.
If there was some way to make it so those within the castle got their magical abilities returned, she and others may be able to actively assist in carrying out alternative suggestions to addressing the Michel problem. If Michel is in the castle, sneak attacks and the sort might be possible, or ambushes? I DON'T KNOW. They can send out Gilgamesh as bait.

though tbh, our plans may merge well.

She'd value the lives of the other citizens over Michel himself, too, once they were able to leave the castle.

in the castle: convince and escort Arthur in to make a final plea for Michel to stoooooop this maaaaadneeeeeeessssssssss and resume stewardship of the Order of the Chimera — now as a group looking to help Chantes' magic users, as they come to terms with their powers/ancestry. Namedrop all the goblins/people who are in favour of peace and cohabitation (which ALASTAIR members'll have rallied as part of the diplomatic effort options).
Meanwhile, have a makeshift team of ALASTAIR's magic/Force/science!!! users infiltrate the castle and start exorcism rites/damage control procedures against Michel's demon frands. If Michel decides he wants his Disney ending and backs down on... the whole world domination thing... this team can just peacefully focus on dealing with the demons. If Michel nopes out of negotiations, they can provide back-up and help capture our mad king bro. The already trapped
damsels in castle distressALASTAIR members could probably be super helpful in providing intel / direction for stuff like this, since they'd know the way of the land.in the city of townsville: some ALASTAIR members need to go into that city, temporarily evac most civilians, then lead some volunteer humans/goblins to hunt down the runes. Panic breeds peace, hurrah team spirit??? Michel should probably be held alive/conscious at least long enough for ALASTAIR folks to figure out how many runes they are dealing with and exactly what those things or any mechanisms guarding them do.
