PLAYER POLL.
player poll ![]() Hi, everyone! First of all -- happy Easter to all who celebrate it! Second of all, we promised a player poll and now we're here to deliver. We've read your concerns, discussed them within the mod team, and for this post we now have three main points of discussion: activity check, doubles, and the app system. ACTIVITY CHECK Futurology has always had a laid-back AC system. If you are new or need a refresher, our AC is two proofs of five consecutive log comments or seven consecutive network/inbox comments from you per month. As Futurology has grown, so has our queue, and in response to that, the mod team laid out a few extra stipulations with regards to activity. As of February AC, strikes can only be taken if the player has extenuating, unexpected circumstances. If the player finds themselves unable to make AC, they are still welcome to hiatus, but all hiatuses must be submitted by the 15th of the month they would like exemption for. However, we have still received comments about possibly raising AC. While we want to remain a non-stressful, fun hobby for our players, we also understand the merits of raising AC in a plot-based game such as Futurology. We've discussed some options, and we believe the best option would be to either remain the same or up AC to 3 proofs. The number of comments required for a single log/network proof would remain 5/7, respectively; players would only be required to submit an extra proof. In the thread below, please submit your vote under the YES or NO subthreads. YES to raise the number of proofs, and NO to keep AC at 2 proofs. While you are welcome to give your thoughts in your comment, we also need a definitive yes/no vote, so make sure you post under the correct subthread! DOUBLES Futurology currently allows doubles. For example, Alex could app regular Dean Winchester and Bryan could app Future Dean from the alternate 2014 shown in canon. Cindy, meanwhile, could app Sherlock Holmes from the BBC version and Daisy could app Sherlock Holmes from Elementary. This allows two "copies" of the same character to be in game. However, we have a cast cap as well as an overall game cap, and we realize allowing doubles might not be fair to the playerbase at large in regards to allowing for a wide variety of characters. So we have only one question: Should Futurology continue to allow doubles? In the thread below, please submit your vote under the YES or NO subthreads. YES to continue allowing doubles, and NO to stop allowing doubles. We want to clarify that this will in no way affect anyone currently in game or in the queue. Every character is welcome in Futurology, and regardless of the outcome of this vote, that will not change. THE APP SYSTEM Futurology started out with bi-monthly app rounds, but due to our cap, we decided to institute rolling apps instead very early on. While this has worked well, we know the queue has been unruly and, at times, unwelcoming. After some discussion, the mod team has four options for you! Option one: leave it alone. This one is self-explanatory. We will not change the app or queue system and will leave it exactly as it has been. Option two: full rounds. If this option wins, we will return to an app round system. Once we reach a certain number of vacancies, we will announce when the next app round will open. There will be a reserves system, but only to reserve a character, not a spot in game. This would be first-come, first-served with regards to apps. Option three: half rounds. Like the above, but we would hold two separate rounds approximately 12 hours apart to accommodate other time zones and give players a second chance at submitting their application. For example, if we had 10 open spots, we could open apps at 06:00 with 5 slots and then again at 18:00 with 5 slots. Option four: queue cap. In this option, we would open application submissions until the queue reaches a certain number -- let's say 10. Then we would close application submissions and process them as spots open up in a rolling app system, like we do now. Once the queue reaches zero (that is, after all 10 apps are processed), we would reopen app submissions. This way, no one would ever be more than 10 slots away from acceptance once in the queue, and it would minimize waiting time after an app is submitted. In the thread below, please submit your vote under one of the four subthreads. Their names will correspond to the options above -- LEAVE IT ALONE to keep apps the same, FULL ROUNDS to institute an app round system, etc. In order to keep the poll as blind as possible, we will be holding it through comments instead of using a widget. Comments are screened and will not be unscreened. As this is an OOC poll, please only vote once. You must vote with a character journal currently in-game. This poll will close at 23:59 UTC on April 22. ![]() |

For the yes/no options, should we just not vote at all if we're ambivalent? I just don't want to not vote and make it look like I ignored the question!
For the app system, can we vote for multiple options?
I'm using the dog icon because even Undyne's happy icons look aggressive...

For vote counting purposes, we would like to ask that everyone only vote for one option!
