EVENT PLOTTING: TERRA FELIS

A CAT-ASTROPHE Without warning, characters have been removed from Woodhurst via rift -- but instead of returning to the familiar surroundings of Oska, they'll find themselves somewhere entirely new. This is Terra Felis, which characters who have perused the magitek files will recognize as the homeworld of fellow recruits Cherenkov and Crowley. Terra Felis is a longtime ally of ALASTAIR, and serves as one of many planets that operates as a sanctuary in case Oska needs to shut its rift gates down for whatever reason. The locals don't have any idea why the gates have been shut down, but it's a rare enough occurrence that they're a little worried. Still, they are more than happy to host their allies until communication with Oska resumes. NEWBIES IMPORTANT: Incoming characters have not been to Oska this time, instead rifting directly from their home dimensions to Terra Felis. As such, they're at a slight disadvantage -- they won't have any idea what's going on! This is where veteran recruits come in . . . NETWORK: As the cats of Terra Felis are the originators of the magitek that ALASTAIR uses, newbies will be able to choose a jewelcomm if they wish, so you'll have network access right away. NOTES Please use this post to plot in the comments below! There will be only one log in Terra Felis, which will last for approximately three weeks both IC and OOC, but expect an NPC announcement near the end of their stay . . . BUDDY SIGN-UPS. Please note that since Oska is incommunicado, this is not an IC sign-up, nor is it an IC assignment; ICly, characters will simply stumble upon each other by happenstance. In other words, this is purely OOC matchmaking, so make sure your character is the type to answer questions and make sure you have the OOC availability! Matches will be announced 10 April 23:59 UTC. The Prime Minister will direct Sieglinde to the Royal Scientist for these answers, who will reply thusly:

1) It was at roughly the same time, yes; it's difficult to find out if it was at the exact same moment, considering the differences in interdimensional communications and time, but he does some quick mental math and says he is 98% certain it was within 24 hours of each other.

2) A cessation in contact is uncommon, but not unheard of -- but usually it isn't down for this long. The usual causes are maintenance or if someone accidentally bumps a switch or something; communication is only interrupted when the rift gates are shut down.

3) Terra Felis is an emergency backup planet (one of many) for ALASTAIR so its recruits aren't stuck on worlds indefinitely if Oska's gates shut off; the info about this in the OOC post can be IC knowledge if you'd like! As for the actual mechanics, it's all done by magitek, coded into each recruit's Timeline signature. This is the same technology that allows Oska to recall or send its recruits through rifts.
