quarantine safe house!

hey guys! as stated in this post, the paladins have commandeered an abandoned middle school (with mod approval!) to act as audentes' "time out zone" for those who are infected and/or just want to ensure they are not a threat to society at large. oocly, this gives those whose characters are infected an opportunity to play it out and still do something as they get further along the stages without worry of consequence, if that isn't your jam. just a few notes about it!

• there will be an open log coming up in the next day or so. it will be a catchall for anyone who chooses to do anything regarding the safe house, and will be open until the mission ends. anyone is welcome to tag in or toplevel, even if you are just visiting!
• it is not mandatory. characters have the ic choice to admit themselves. if icly your character wouldn't want to, and you need persuasion or coercion, feel free to plot it out!
• infected will feel compelled to eat any flesh — even other infected. the safe house is just to keep others safe from those infected... those inside will have to rally together to help their own. but thankfully there are plenty of empty classrooms to hole oneself up in when the hunger pangs become too much! 8D;;
• donations are being accepted! any of the listed donations are free for players to make use of. caution tape around the building to ward off any natives, extra mattresse or cots, food, etc!
• un-infected are free to visit! at their own risk, of course. depending on how much you want to tempt fate and all. if nothing else, the network is still available for chatting.
• and last but not least, feel free to use this post to plot.

**EDIT: there are handy magical barriers available for people to utilize when their characters get too far gone. :)b

Thanks to a horrendous shopping trip, the quarantine will have quite a few nonelectric forms of entertainment!! Such as:

- Teen magazines!! The quizzes are even in tact!
- more board games than you can shake a stick at
(including this one. somehow, you can feel a lot of hate energy radiating from it, as if it has recently forced several friendships in peril with its hunky boys)
- an assortment of books! (he just... grabbed a bunch. hopefully some of them are good?)

Also, an electronic keyboard. It's his, he bought it with his money, but he'll leave it here if someone wishes to play it.

Maya will be available for network distractions and (some) visiting!! She will probably try to organize activities to keep people's minds off eating flesh, can deliver personal items/possibly food if there's any to find and is available to keep people occupied or COOL DOWN HUGS if necessary... within reason ofc, she's not going to go chill in a locked area with a zombie clique, but one on one or hanging out w/ a bit of distance is fine!!! So if anyone wants company/distractions, you don't have to have CR with her, she'll do it for literally anyone

Haise isn't infected and is very low-risk because regular uses of force and weaponry won't break his skin. He'll make himself available for network distractions or whatever support those holed up need, including provisioning supplies. He's also strong enough to intervene if there's conflict, what with the cannibalistic tendencies, though I don't know if he can actually go in there.

Definitely good for supply runs and distractions though. And he's quite the cook so if y'all want steaks...

as of right now i believe anyone can go in! so having someone who isn't infected around as extra muscle would be great, imo

Haise can definitely provide some muscle, despite his looks. I await the day someone throws shade at how tiny and slight he appears to be...

I intend to if/when IC interaction gets me to a point that I'd have specifics for donation. At this time I'm just lobbing ideas and saying he can be used for heavy-lifting since I'm not sure what to have him give aside like. Meat.

He knows this need for meat on a deep level okay. It's terrible and he understands it too well.

She's a stubborn git and will want to do whatever she can to help before she...you know loses her mind completely. Mettaton's def with Team Hugfest '93. Since the more violent members of the team are already working to track down Percy, Mettaton knows he better suited to try and comfort the teammates with any sort of MTT-brand Entertainment they desire.

Also, they can't infect him worth shit, so prepare for actual hugs. Bitches.

Sieglinde will be helping out by warding a few classrooms with a barrier that prevents anyone infected from exiting the room once the field is activated.

This way, characters who are approaching later stages of infection or who doubt they can keep themselves from attacking people can voluntarily isolate themselves without worry of breaking out of physical bonds.

Alternatively, it could be used to... involuntarily trap more stubborn characters who don't feel like submitting to quarantine but who can't keep their teeth to themselves.

(As a note, it's also not perfect, so if someone wants escapes for plot purposes they could somehow manage to damage the anchors of the spell and disable it, or bury under the field prison break style, etc.)

could you explain more about how the barriers work? are they invisible or do they glow, what do the anchors look like, etc...!

Right! The barriers will be largely transparent, but if someone knows what to look for, (having run into one or being particularly observant), careful inspection can reveal the surface based on suspicious refractions of light or faint ripples from points of impact. The anchors will be made of normal rock base, with rune-like symbols and Theban traced in what looks suspiciously like blood. (It's blood.) Sieglinde will try and place them in out of the way/hard to find places, but in the case of someone wanting to do an escape plot an anchor could be located and destroyed by either pulverizing the rock or obscuring the sigils.

stiles will be joining the quarantine towards the end of the month once he actually has the time to stop and realize he's infected... he'll only be around week 4 at that point though so he'll still be able to help out with containing those who have hit full frenzy mode!

meanwhile, nami will volunteer to bring them food or other things they might need, and she's an excellent listener if anyone wants to talk... she would be willing to help out by tasering people if needed, but since there's others who can't be infected who can do that she'd likely leave that to them.

Lucy/Nyuu will be admitting herself willingly, but she will not allow anyone to enter the classroom she's holed up in. She can talk through the door, though!

THANKFULLY, the encephalitis has disabled her vectors since they're closely connected to her pineal gland, so no need to worry about getting attacked by invisible arms/hands! On the other hand, the encephalitis will also cause her to switch between Nyuu and Lucy sporadically.

naruto definitely wants to help out. he's 500% open to chatting and hugs, and is willing to throw a few clones toward the safe house. his clones can't be infected so if y'all chew on them they'll just disappear. so be nice >8^I

while the clones are close, though, they are basically exact copies of naruto, so they're friendly and reassuring, inspiring in that typical shounen way, and very up for playing games or basically anything you think would distract your character.

unless its.. boring. like playing chess or reading. he can't help you there.

but if we don't have CR i'm even more up for having them chat!! being lonely sucks so naruto wants to make it less hard!!

Sakura won't be infected, but she will be up for helping out and visiting all the same.

Probably bringing food, books, boardgames or something to keep them entertained and fed at least? Offering her company if any want to do something or just sit and chat. Regardless of her having cr or not. She can visit in person (probably having Shield active as a precaution that she isn't attacked.) or chat via the network, either way.
