For the most part, characters will be locked up and ignored by any guards, so it would be possible to at least attempt it. However, they will check in every once in awhile, so they could also be caught. If they were, they'd be jailed as well.

Harry Potter is thinking about using magic to get out of jail, so you might want to coordinate with his player, as well!
