Not long after he arrives back in Oska, Shizuo receives the following information:

Aki has grown very reckless! It seems unafraid of danger as opposed to the other squidges that are still somewhat anxious about new things. Aki became an explorer, breaking out on its own to find new sources of food, water, and materials. Since most of the others are still quite wary, its affinity for climbing has made it one of the society's most valued people, as has its healing abilities. It's doing very well for itself, and even manages to stay calm much of the time!
