Not much survived the fall of the school, as most of the supplies here were temporary and very perishable. But in one corner, under the clutter of a desk shaken to pieces, he’ll find a sturdy frame and a moderately well-preserved picture inside. It’s a class photo with most of the details faded into grays and blues. The people within are all feline, and most of them are aged between early childhood and young adolescence. One of them toward the center in the back is an adult, and even through the ravages of time and the difficulties of reading an alien face, the look of joy is readily apparent on her face.
