EVENT WRITE-UP: GILLIGAN'S ISLAND
![]() MAROONED Characters that are signed up will find themselves literally picked up and carried away by the storm that rocks the Nalawi islands three days after the eruptions. They find themselves deposited on a mysterious island, newly raised up from the seafloor, and held there when the storm rings around the island and refuses to abate. They will be kept there for one in-game week, and characters who have signed up for AC Reward plot slots will be able to provide a little more insight as to why, and how to return. The log is here, which has greater event detail, and will cover the span of their time there. ![]() LEFT BEHIND For characters that chose not to sign up, they will be left outside of the typhoon's radius of effect and will find refuge on Pu'ulai. Travel to Komo and other surrounding islands will be impossible as the storm continues, but Pu'ulai is a mostly safe haven from the elements. But that doesn't mean all is well. After the volcanic eruption, the Nalawi's gifts have dimmed even further, and the Council is desperate to find a solution. Even worse, some of the townsfolk have been driven to their wit's end. A coalition of them has turned to Ryba for aid; this mysterious cult of new worshippers has disappeared further into the island. And with them, more and more Nalawi vanish nightly. Characters may search for the missing villagers, though all of surviving ones will be at the cultists' hidden camp. Otherwise, there are ritualistic circles made of seashells, bits of rotting fish left in offering, or strange rock formations that spark with eerie, magical energy. CW: mild body horror. However, the most gruesome finds are by the shoreline. In the shallows, characters might stumble upon Nalawi bodies, tangled up in seaweed and buoyed by driftwood. Characters that can stomach a little investigation can notice that their bellies are purposefully sliced and peeled. And though the local wildlife has nibbled a bit, it's clear the tiny fish nearby aren't what gouged their eyes out. The driftwood itself is water-bloated, but indecipherable etchings run all up and down it, written in a language that all of the Nalawi will angrily attribute to Ryba if asked. Characters that sign up for the AC Reward Plot Slots in this group will be given the opportunity to investigate these disappearances first, or otherwise stumble upon the cult's dwellings. Upon doing so, two (2) characters will be captured by the Ryba cult to be sacrificed to their new god, and the third member will be able to escape. Throughout the week, conflict between the Nalawi and Ryba's followers will come to a head. Vicious fights will break out all throughout the villages -- the tiny deer people make up for their small size with a massive tendency for violence. Recruits that stick around may get dragged into the squabbles and fights, or mugged by a crowd for their food. The Nalawi will steal anything that isn't boarded down, including resources that might go towards rescuing the other recruits. The sideways explosion from Nalalona has affected the environs of Pu'ulai as well: having been closest to the blast, the island is covered in a blanket of ash. Everything is dirty and gray, and sunlight struggles to filter down through the cloud. As a result, Pu'uali is colder than usual, leading to even more tension amongst the tropically-acclimated Nalawi. This portion of the event will not have its own mass log, but players are encouraged to create their own posts. OOC INFO NETWORK The network will be disrupted between the two groups by the storm, but they can still communicate amidst themselves. For example: Billy may be stranded on the island and attempt to contact Anne, who is still on the mainland. His messages would fail to transmit to her. However, he could still reach Charles, who is also stranded. Players may choose whether failed messages disappear, bounce back unanswered, or transmit all at once once communications are back fully online. OTHER We'll also be taking this event at a IC:OOC ratio of 1:2, meaning for every (2) OOC days that pass, only (1) IC day will. We're trying a slightly different approach with regards to AC reward plot slots as well, so for those that sign up, please expect a PM from us shortly. QUESTIONS? If you have questions about this sequence of events (for either side!), please ask them below. If you have questions regarding the Nalawi mission in general, including mechanics or questions unrelated to the events, please use the mission overview page. |
