IMPORTANT: RULE REMINDER
RULE REMINDER Hello, everyone! We have received concerns about recent player etiquette and we have decided to make a gamewide reminder about our rules to ensure everyone is on the same page. Please carefully read this entire post. The first rule in Futurology is respect each other. While we realize that things can get heated ICly, especially during in-character debate, under no circumstance should this translate to OOC behavior. If you find you are becoming frustrated or emotionally compromised OOCly by something that is happening IC, please step away from the situation until you are sure you can calmly continue playing. As stated in our second rule, do not blur IC/OOC. You are not your character, and your character's feelings (or vice versa) should not bleed over. Communication is our third rule: if you find you cannot continue a thread because of personal feelings, communicate with your threadmate -- and in turn, if someone reaches out to you asking to drop a thread, respect their wishes. If communication with another player breaks down, you can contact the mods and we will do our best to mediate. And finally, as stated under the first rule, have fun, but not at the expense of others. We can't police what is said in private conversations, nor do we want to, but public ridicule of another player's contribution to the game is not tolerated. If you wouldn't say something to a player's face, don't say it in public; not only may it find its way to that player and hurt their feelings, but it can also cause a toxic atmosphere and make other players uncomfortable about voicing their own ideas. Please note: breaking these rules is ground for a strike. We take everyone's comfort very seriously, and this will be the game at large's first and final warning on the matter. While it's unfortunate that we had to make this post, we hope this reminder will urge you all to be more mindful of your behavior and how it may impact others' enjoyment of the game. Remember, we're all real human beings with real feelings behind our characters! If you have any questions or need clarification, feel free to ask them below or contact the mods privately. |
